JCI Canada runs an Effective Speaking Competition each year at national convention. During the year chapters run an Effective Speaking Course to prepare their members for the national competition. Each region runs a regional competition and the regional winners proceed on to the national level of the competition.
The winner of the National Effective Speaking Competition represents JCI Canada at the speaking competition held at the Area C Convention. The winner from the Area C competition proceeds on to the world level competition held at World Congress.
The winner of the 2009 Effective Speaking Competition held at the 2009 National Convention & Annual General Meeting in Winnipeg, Manitoba was Sharla Zandvliet of JCI Vernon, speaking on Leaving Your Footprint. Sharla will represent JCI Canada at the Area C Conference in May 2010 in Rosario, Argentina.
The winner of the impromptu contest was Jason Keeling, JCI Calgary.
