JCI Canada members may take advantage of conferences on the regional, national and international levels. These conferences allow members to experience situations not available at the chapter level and provide a broader arena for networking and business opportunities.
Each of the regions within JCI Canada holds at least two regional conferences each year hosted by a local chapter within that region. These weekend conferences provide opportunities for fellowship and training for the chapters within that region.
Each September JCI Canada holds its National Convention and Annual General Meeting. Chapters vie for the opportunity to host the national convention. The 2010 national convention will be hosted by JCI Edmonton - September 22-26. The Annual General Meeting is the business portion of national convention and provides the chapters with the opportunity to voice their opinion in the running of the corporation. Each chapter sends a chief delegate to the Annual General Meeting and the chief delegates elect the national board, approve the national business plan and budget for the upcoming year and choose a host for the next year's national convention.
National convention also offers an excellent variety of professional development training and networking opportunities. Regional representatives compete on the national level at the Effective Speaking Competition during national convention. The winner of this competition goes on to represent JCI Canada at the Area C Conference the following spring.
The Outstanding Young Canadian award is presented at the president's gala on Saturday evening.
The Awards Program, also held at national convention, recognizes not only individual successes but chapter successes as well.
There are a number of international conventions available to members of JCI Canada:
Area C Conference of the Americas JCI World Congress
